I was given a Night Star Amaryllis plant a while back from our friends at North Haven Gardens, and it got me thinking about how this beautiful plant would make for a fabulous hostess gift. It is only $18.99, effortless, and lasts forever. Mine has been in full bloom for over 3 weeks and smells amazing. Best part about an Amaryllis is, you can cut the leaves off of the fully-bloomed plant, store the bulb in a dry, cool area, and save it for next year. Everyone loves a gift that keeps on giving.
I am soooo glad you love your amaryllis! The picture looks great! ‘Night Star’ is my favorite. I even have a new bloom coming up on mine now that I’ve cut the old one off.
Unfortunately, though, the pot isn’t included in the price. We do have a great selection of wonderful delft pots (blue & white glazed pots) and glass vases that aren’t very expensive.

Do not cut the leaves off, keep it watered until late summer in the best light you can give it. Then cut back totally on water and allow it it to go dormant. Start watering in early November. You can also put it into the garden and it will bloom in early spring. I have never had one freeze.
Thanks lee! I was wondering how to make these things last. I have always watered mine year-round. That could be my problem. Keep ‘em growing PEOPLE!
