Why Doesn’t Dallas Have a DEAN & DELUCA?

I mean, really, even Kansas City (?!?) has one of these delectable foodie posh shops. Every year when I get my D&D holiday catalog, I devour each savory page, finding numerous great gift ideas and a few things to buy for myself. (Sea salt caramels and roasted strawberry balsamic vinegar ballontins? Why, yes, thank you.) I hear that Victory is supposed to get an Oakville Grocer (yum) at the House development. So, why no D&D? I think it would fit in perfect at the West Village.

Or possibly in the new huge Lake Highlands development at Skillman and Walnut Hill? Not everything hip has to be in one of the villages.

I told Highland Park Village about this store 5 years ago! It would be great if there was one, somewhere in Dallas.

After moving from the East coast and having access to this remarkable store, I do not understand why they haven’t invaded the metroplex…you don’t know gourmet until you’ve had Zabars or Dean and Deluca, and since D&D is a mobile chain (in Tokyo to Napa) I don’t see why this area dosen’t have one…we have plenty of money to spend…they would add east coast sophistication in an area that is trying to be urban…they have a fabulous wine selection as well with great customer service, I was in Charlotte N.C. at the Phillips Landing store and didn’t want to leave…the only problem is that there is a little quaint store Dallas has called Eatzies, and they would damage their business for sure if they were in the Oak Lawn area or West Village area…
