Miss Me?

I’m off to a bi-coastal family trip.  And I mean bi-coastal. One daughter is getting married on an island off the coast of Portland, Maine on Sept. 20.  The other daughter is starting Seattle University on Sept 20.  Sound ridiculous? - just owe it to SU being on the quarter system, and of course, my flawless timing.  My daughter and I will be flying at 6 am across the North Pole the morning after the wedding with a hangover.  When I return, you can hear all about Peggy’s Folly -the move from Highland Park into a modern 70’s split level that I started having an affair with last spring.  Needs a lot of work - but most new relationships do. (How do I file this, Adam, under nuts?)

Corey Pope is Fearless

Local designer Corey Pope is opening a new showroom at the International - just goes to show that we Dallasites aren’t afraid of some little thing called recession. Its exciting to me, because I think this is the first locally owned multi-line showroom opening in about 7 years. (Haroo & Haroo was 2001, am I right?) From experience, I can tell you that to open a showroom in a slow economy takes a lot of guts, creativity, luck and loyalty. Check later for a list of lines, but I love this Jakob Schlaepfer. I knew it was familiar, because they created some of the really cool couture fabrics for Creation Baumann.

Weekend Shopping by Holly

As many of you are aware, Hurricane Ike has got it’s eye right on the Texas coast. Needless to say, Dallas is going to get pummeled by torrential downpours of rain. As for shopping advice? I cannot lie. I, personally, will be bunkered down inside shopping around online. In fact, I have already been doing just that. See what is worth checking out this weekend. No umbrellas or rain boots required. (more…)
