I have been asking style gurus lately: who would you prefer as a client for the White House: John McCain or Barack Obama? Stacy Sawyer, ASID, of Stacy Sawyer Design would pick McCain. She envisions “classic elegance of course, but with a modern edge to it. They could bring such style back to the White House.” (Candy Evans gives us a glimpse of the McCain look – for at least one of their houses. ) So how about you: Whose White House would you want to decorate?
Obama. He loves change which means we could redecorate over and over again. (Cha-ching!)
McCain. Like Ms. Sawyer stated, they could bring such style back to the White House. Just look at Cindy McCain; she exudes elegance and class.
Definitely The Obama’s,
I think it would be so exciting to design for a Man and his family whom I believe embodies political humanitarianism.
With Barack Obama’s campaign slogan being formatted on “change” the White House project would be an electrifying environment to inaugurate his movement. He would live in and be reminded daily the man he has become and what he exemplifies.
I vision a “canvas” and the incredible opportunity for the W.H. designers to fabricate agreeably the combination of cultural eclecticism working cohesively with traditional and classical elements.
In addition, and more importantly, history could be made and a major global message would be sent out that if for the first time the White House was designed “Green” using sustainable materials (many are even “dog friendly”) in the process.
The rest of the world would be in awe and America would be greatly admired, setting a paradigm that could change international attitudes towards the U.S.A. as an excessive, greedy and frivolous country.
Thank you for the inquiry.
