Knoll at One Arts Plaza

Knoll Inc. is leaving the Design District for the heart of downtown.  They will be opening a 10,000 square foot LEED certified showroom at One Arts Plaza in January.  The reason:  To connect people with how they work and how they live.”  It’s a cool space, but I think it’s kind of a pain to park there.  Of course, you can always go to Smink Inc for your cool Barcelona chairs and Saarinen tables.

Pescabar Restaurant: Design Snob Review

Pescabar Restaurant Interior designI love Alberto Lombardi. It is possible that I even have a crush on him. But I am very, very (add ten more “verys”) confused about the design concept for Pescabar, his newest creation, housed in what was previously Ferre in West Village. For a neighborhood dining experience, should the look be “party?” It is as if some overachiever insisted that the theme for the senior prom be Masked Ball, so the class of 2008 painted the walls split-pea soup green, rented Venetian mirrors and whimsical furniture, and draped a whole lot of fabric to create a tent-y vibe. But didn’t most of us graduate? Like, a long time ago?

The Swan is 50

The iconic Swan chair by Fritz Hansen turns 50 this year - don’t you love it when something is so perfectly designed that it just never goes out of style?  In honor of the 50 years, there will be a limited edition of 1958 chairs made upholstered in swan white leather with a sterling silver bracelet around the base.  Maybe you could wear the bracelet, too.  Of course, you should place your orders now with Scott + Cooner.
