Check out Dallas’ own The Shock of Pleasure. I discovered the electro-lounge group through music blog Arjan Writes (a great place to taste new, cool music) and dig their rendition of the Carpenters’ classic “Superstar,” featured on the group’s MySpace page. Dim the lights and pour a little Riunite on ice. Oh yeah — that’s nice.
Williams-Sonoma Home is in the middle of a big, fat summer sale and its bedding is going fast. I really dig this iron gate crewel duvet. Very crisp and graphic. But I’m not so keen on the coral throw pillows. Is it just me or is coral done and dead?
You probably haven’t seen Ike Isenhour around much lately, but I just had lunch with him and found out why he is scarce. Other then the monster job he’s finishing on Robert Edsel’s Turtle Creek manse (the one with the blue roof that you’ve always lusted for), Ike is busy out of town. Like a condo at the Essex house in New York, and job in Savannah, another in Orlando, the W condos in Houston, and, just a little art nouveau villa in San Remo, Italy. The villa was built by the Czarina of Russia in the late 1880s as her winter home; the new owners are American - I can’t say the name, but her sister, who died of cancer, was the beloved wife of rock & roll’s biggest icon. Beats staying in Dallas, Ike.
Normally when you think of Kate Spade, your mind immediately drifts to their classic, chic shoe selection and colorful, bold bags. Quite often, I forget that Kate Spade has their own home collection that is every bit as adorable as the stilettos and clutches. I have to have this polka dot rose bowl ($75). Normally I would say no way to polka dots, but there is something about the bold white dots paired with fresh pink tulips that make me see polka dots in a whole new light. If you just can’t bring yourself to buy a polka dotted vase, the bowl is also patterned in mini and wide stripes.
