Hable Construction at ID Collection

One of the true media darlings in the fabric industry right now, Hable Construction is now available at ID Collection.  Maybe they are just returning to their roots - Susan and Katharine Hable were born and raised in Corsicana, and when they decided to pool their talents and start a business in 1999, they named their fabric collection after their grandfather’s construction company.  They combined Katharine’s salesmanship and Susan’s artistry with a heavy dose of Southern charm and heavy Texas accents, and took New York by storm. They are still very visible at their shop in the West Village in New York and Susan still draws their fresh, graphic designs by hand.  Welcome, ya’ll.

All This For Under $50???

I recently found myself buying a bunch of things I don’t need at CB2. It is hard to resist when everything is so gosh-darn cheap. I bought these plain-white, stackable, lacquer “Osaka” boxes (large, $9.95; extra large $19.95). What am I going to put in them? I don’t know. I also couldn’t resist these lumiere candle holders. The set of four looks so classic and beautiful and each holder costs less than $5. Quite the steal, I know. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with it all. Hmm…

What in the SAM HILL Happened?

I’ll tell you.  Remeber that little dust storm/wind event on Saturday night?

Well, it took out two HUGE branches on one of my 70+ trees.  This one, a cedar elm has weathered everything Mother Nature has dealt for over 50 years.  This spring, a neighboring tree took a lightening hit.  After attempting to bribe Zac Crain and Harvey Lacey, to no avail, I finally called in the big guns.

Yes, his name really is Sam Hill.  He’s the best arborist in Dallas, an expert on oak wilt, a self-admitted tree hugger, and a really nice guy.  Oh, well, I’ll have some great firewood this winter.
