I know real estate is not my favorite subject, but I do like to walk and critique the neighborhood. The corner of Lexington and Byron is new construction on steriods. Period. We walked through the house, I thought it was an apartment complex, on the SE corner. It’s a spec house built almost to the property line of a very big lot. Not to worry, there are about 6 fireplaces for our frigid Dallas nights. Lots of balconies, one is about 15 feet from the neighbor’s house - nice view. And your choice of living areas downstairs - so you don’t have to mingle with other people. Who is going to buy this? Someone with 12 children? I think not.
Operative word: critique/critical. It is clear that in writing this you are not trying to convey an attitude of pro-development. In business and real estate development, the operative word is maximizing one’s dollar per square foot. Do you have an issue with someone else making money as your tone implies? Sorry, do you live in a pastoral architecturally significant estate on multiple acreage with no view of the neighbors?
Also, bigger is better. Are you in Texas? And in regard to your comment about the view–the entire Park Cities is a stone’s throw from the next lot with a few exceptions.
This is a delusional bitter posting at best coming from someone who seems to be a non-property owner or a renter of a small abode jealous of someone able to afford a sizable comfortable home in a GREAT location.
Oh, and I might buy it…
Are you kidding fauxProperty Purchaser!???
Uh…who is bitter? Yikes. Get yourself to the pharmacist. There is the question of taste. I think PP missed that entirely. In that case, the home sounds perfect for you. Also - maybe not a good idea to make generalizations about blog writers or take things to extremes. We could do the same for you - not so pretty.
PP, clearly you have never been to Peggy’s “architecturally significant estate on multiple acreage [SIC].” And now you never will. Too bad–she serves great booze at her parties.
Yes…agreed to all. But do not overlook the “chateau” directly across the street. A monument to somone’s ego and bad taste. I wonder when they plan on the coronation?
How is it possible that a magazine, in business, is knocking home builders?
Not knocking home builders - knocking bad taste, ego, etc. So few here know the difference. Builders would be the ‘enablers’. We can get to that in a separate post.
It’s a question of taste, these monster homes are gauche. They are simply in bad taste, inconsiderate, rude. I’m glad it’s discussed. Has nothing to do with home builders.
