Black Barns

I asked Richardson artist Nancy Beasley why she paints black barns: “I’ve experimented with other colors for the barn, and a few times during this series the barn must be a shade of white or green, but usually the only color that will work is black. I think black is mysterious, final, foreboding, heavy, empty, timeless, and most of all interesting and contemporary.” Find her work in Santa Fe at Wilder Nightingale Fine Art and in Dallas at Art Ability.

Most of us think of “rustic”, or “red”, when we think of barns.
Nancy, you have given me a new perspective into art. I love the “black barn” and can see the sublety of the black barn against the landscape. We are very proud of your accomplishents and look forward to seeing more beautiful artwork from you.
    With love and God’s blessings,

I love the “black barn” series. They remind me of the struggle small family farms are having today. The landscapes are so beautifully reflected with subtles hues and then you have the stark black building set against them. It gives you alot to ponder about today’s life. The barn can represent the struggles we are all facing. Keep pushing us all to think.
