In the process of doing research for The Greening of Dallas special report, I’ve been interviewing folks directing different aspects of the Trinity River revitalization. Just a few tidbits that weren’t really on my radar:
The Trinity Forest is the largest urban hardwood forest in the country–close to 6,000 acres. The park plans on the drawing board will dwarf New York’s Central Park and offer some seriously green venues such as an Equestrian Center that will run on no electricity and a reverse water flow concept that will keep lakes extra clean.
For those of you who are anxious to get a look at what’s going on, (and don’t want to drive your car off the road while gazing over your shoulder), watch for the Fast Track Overlook Project being designed by Lopez/Garcia. This viewing spot will be done in about six months, on the Oak Cliff side at Commerce. You’ll be able to pull over, sit in the shade and actually see the work in progress.
