Snipets from the Bar at the Ritz

So, at the end of a long hot day I settled into a banquette at the bar at the Ritz and took in the scene… Right off the bat a waiter spilled a large glass of water on a woman across the room.  As she was pitching a rather inappropriate fit, out of nowhere appears a man to whisk away her jacket - wipe it up and use a hand blow dryer to restore it to its original condition.  That’s what I call service - hope she left him a great tip.

As I am commenting on the outstanding staff, a woman across from me says, “Do you also like the music?”  (I wonder if I look like a stealth hotel reviewer?)  Turns out she just closed the deal on satellite music for the entire property - a service that has allows the Ritz to download whatever they want, wherever they want.  Something different in the bar, in the restaurant, in the lobby, voila

This same woman says, “What about the scent?  Did you notice the scent when you came in?”  She also sold the Ritz their ScentAir, a system that pumps fragrance into a room via a discreet fan like cannister.  When I confessed that I hadn’t noticed, she took me by the hand and showed me where they were positioned in the lobby.  Apparently, like other discerning properties, the Ritz has its own unique scent.  Huh, who knew?
